Knowing what the visitors in your audiences did on your site is much easier with our Google (Universal) Analytics Integration. This is a destination integration that allows you to set a Google Analytics dimension and / or fire an event to Google Analytics. Firing events to Google Analytics also allows for AdWords remarketing.

What You Will Need

Enabling the Destination Integration

The first step is to enable the Google Analytics destination integration. Go to "Integrations" and select "Add Destination".

From the panel find the Universal Analytics integration and enable it by clicking the checkbox.

Before it can be enabled the Universal Analytics integration must be configured with the appropriate Tracking ID for a Google Analytics property. To find the tracking ID:

  1. Sign in to your Analytics account

  2. Click Admin.

  3. Select an account from the menu in the ACCOUNT column.

  4. Select a property from the menu in the PROPERTY column.

  5. Under PROPERTY, click Tracking Info > Tracking Code. Your tracking ID is displayed at the top of the page.

Copy and Paste the Tracking ID from Google Analytics, make sure the "Active" checkbox is checked and click on "Save" to activate the integration.

Configuring the Destination within an Audience

Once the Destination is configured to send audience visitors to Google Analytics you'll need to go into your Audience, click on "Edit" and Scroll down the the "3rd Party Synchronizations" area. In that section click on the "Universal Analytics" tab.

Setting a Custom Dimension

Universal Analytics has 20 custom dimensions available (200 for Premium) that FunnelEnvy can set if a user is in the Audience. The Audience name is sent as the value to Google Analytics with the dimension.

To set a dimension make sure "Set as Dimension" is checked and enter a value from 1-20 (1-200 for Premium) as the Dimension ID. Save the audience and the dimension will start being set for every user that meets the audience and destination conditions.

Once the dimension is set you can use it in Google Analytics custom reports to view the activity of visitors in your audiences on the site.

Firing a Google Analytics Event

An Audience can also be configured to send a Google Analytics event every time someone in the audiences visits the site. To enable this make sure "Send as Event" is checked and enter values for Category, Action and optionally Label. Note that you can use any values for these.

Once the audience is saved events will start being sent immediately when a visitor in a particular audience comes to the site with the FunnelEnvy snippet installed.
